I began my piping career in 1972 when I joined the Canadian Army. My first instructor was PM Willie Stirling, Cdn Gds, then PM Donnie Carrigan, Black Watch. Later I studied with PM James Watt - West Coast Academy of Pipe Music and then with Scott Macaulay. I have played and competed at Gr 3 with several bands, the most recent being the Ottawa Police Services P&D under PM Pat Hayes. Currently I play with the RCMP P&D in Ottawa. Since retiring from the Army in 2014, I have taken up teaching pipes to beginners, tutoring members of the band and composing my own music. Besides bagpipes, I play guitar and sing in the Celtic Folk Band - Shabraque.
