Ian L. - Phase 3 - Willie Gray's Farewell to the Glasgow Police
Greetings Ian!
That's sounding pretty nice sir! I have a few suggestions below, but this definitely demonstrated a nice understanding of the fundamentals.
Bass drone at 45 degree angle? Yes
Blowpipe in center of mouth? Yes
Chanter position centered? Yes
Squeezing Arm impinged? No
Frantic blowing cadence? No
Drones out of tune (with each other)? No
Overall Basic Instrument Operation Comments from Timothy:
A few things to keep in mind going forward. The red line on the manometer should be your Sweet Spot, and thereby your target. The green marker should be a guide that encourages you to stay tight to that mark. I set mine at 1.5" these days, but it's totally acceptable to give yourself a wider span and then tighten up over time. Calibrating your drones so that they shut off above that red line is good, but closer to the line, say 1.5" should be sufficient, allowing us to have and easier time and saving air for the chanter. This way we're not working too hard! It also mitigates any tuning drift caused by minor fluctuations in your blow cycle. Contemplate these ideas and keep working on that awesome tonal quality Ian!
Cheers! @Timothy-Gatehouse
